In Psalm 18 we read of the psalmist's love and delight in the Lord, but we also read of how the Lord delights in the psalmist. "He brought me out into an open place; He rescued me because he delighted in me." (18:20)
To delight in someone or something is not to have a passive feeling or reaction, but rather a strong feeling of pleasure. God delights in those who love and call upon Him; He doesn't passively regard you, but feels delight about you! Delight is a far stronger word than happiness, contentment, it rivals joy in its intensity. So the next time you are feeling down about yourself, doubting your worth, remember that God delights in you, and in Zephaniah 3:17 we are told that "The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
Stop for a moment and consider how valued you are to God if He delights in *you*, that He rejoices over *you* with singing. If you believe in God through Christ, He sees you as a blameless adopted child of His, His great delight, His joy. No one could be more loved than you.
God's grace be with you,
