God commands us not to lie and bear false witness against others.
That includes on Facebook.
If you post lies and half truths about someone, whether personally or politically, you're lying. And no liar shall have a place in the kingdom of heaven, but rather go onto destruction. (Rev 21:8)
Watch your tongue, speak the truth in love and gentleness, and make sure before you click the "share" button that what the meme or post is saying is actually 100% true. Otherwise you are just spreading a lie and gossiping as well.
And if you are one of those people that shares posts full of half truths and lies, whether earnestly or maliciously, stop and repent! If you do not repent and cease doing so, knowing that what you are sharing may not be fully true or is an outright lie, then God WILL hold you accountable.
God's grace be with you,
Fr. Charles Butler
