You say you are a Christian

You say you are a Christian, and that you seek to please God; that is all well and good, now go and live that statement. With each decision you make, ask yourself, "Is this pleasing to the Lord? Does this glorify God? Would this make me ashamed before the Lord?" Asking yourself such questions, and praying over the decisions and choices of life will allow the Holy Spirit room to work in your heart- convicting and consoling as needed.

While our deeds and the manner of our lives will not and cannot save us, they do give evidence to whether or not our hearts have been renewed in the Lord, and whether we have been born again of the Spirit. A true Christian, while they may occasionally fall into sin, will not live in a manner of willfully, joyfully engaging in that sin and a worldly lifestyle. The Christian who has been born again of the Holy Spirit seeks to please the Lord in how they live, act, speak and dress, in how they treat others, and in the love that they show.

When you are getting ready to make a decision, do you seek to glorify God with your choices, or satisfy yourself and please others?

God's grace be with you,
Fr. Charles Butler
